Thanks for visiting my site. Here you’ll find information about all my activities in Birmingham and in Westminster.

I was first elected to parliament in 2005, and again in 2010 you have voted for me in your thousands to continue my hard work both locally and nationally. I’d like to thank everyone who voted for me on May 6th 2010, it’s an honour and a privilege to serve you in this way. I’m easy to get in touch with, and always ready to help out. I look forward to hearing from you, and finding out what I can do for you.

19/5/2013: MP attacks head of Hacked Off for 'acting to stifle free speech during his legal career by bringing injunctions for Gigg

John Hemming has condemned Hugh Tomlinson QC, the barrister who has led Hacked Off's call for state-backed regulation of the press, for his role in bringing legal injunctions on behalf of footballer Ryan Giggs and banker Fred Goodwin.

The 114 Tories were joined by another 11 Labour MPs who supported the amendment tabled by Tory eurosceptic John Baron, as well as four DUP MPs, the Respect MP George Galloway and the Liberal Democrat John Hemming, bringing the total to 131 MPs to vote against the Queen's Speech.

1/3/2013: Lib Dem rebels signal support for decarbonisation target

The chances of the government being forced to set a decarbonisation target for the power sector improved today, after three influential Lib Dem MPs signalled they would vote against the government and support a cross-party amendment that would require a target to be set next year.

Dr Julian Huppert, Martin Horwood and John Hemming have signed the amendment tabled by the Conservative chair of the Energy and Climate Change Select Committee, Tim Yeo, and his Labour colleague on the committee, Barry Gardiner.

Courts and local authorities are “bullying” members of the public to prevent them speaking to MPs, it has been claimed.

Birmingham MP John Hemming (Lib Dem Yardley) urged Parliament to re-assert its ancient right to help people who believe they have been unfairly treated by the state.
